Our Laboratory Facilities

DEI maintains a fully equipped laboratory. Recently collocated with our offices at our new facility on Sunrise Valley Drive in Reston, VA, the lab contains 11,000 square feet of space devoted to metallography, failure analysis, materials testing, chemical process design, chemical analysis, electronics prototyping, vibrations testing, and microscopy. Our facilities include a high-bay area to accommodate the final assembly and test of specialized equipment that we design. The laboratory also includes a machine shop which is available for prototyping of mechanical devices. In addition, DEI has established numerous working relationships with local and national laboratories and fabrication shops, giving our clients access to even larger testing and analysis capabilities.

We make extensive use of computerized data acquisition and control systems at our laboratory facility. One of our strengths is the development of custom data acquisition, data processing, and control programs using languages such as LabVIEW and MATLAB.  These programs have been used in chemical and mechanical test rigs in our laboratories as well as in equipment operated by end-users at power plants or in other laboratories.
